What to require from trucking dispatch software
- Fast load entry, assignment and status visibility
- Driver communication and mobile document capture
- Rate confirmations, BOLs, PODs and document workflow
- Customer, lane and equipment context at dispatch
- Billing, settlements or clean accounting handoff
- ELD, tracking, load-board and accounting integrations
Current FleetSift research candidates
The platforms below all participate in the carrier/TMS buying problem, but they target different fleet sizes and levels of operational complexity. The list is not a ranking.
Small carrier or heavier TMS?
Smaller fleets often benefit from a lighter implementation and clear dispatch-to-billing workflow. Growing and enterprise operations can justify deeper accounting, brokerage, integrations, automation and multi-division controls. Buying too much complexity too early can create implementation cost without improving dispatch.
Questions to take into the demo
- How many clicks does it take to create, assign and update a normal load?
- What does the driver see, and how are PODs and other documents returned to the office?
- Which ELDs, load boards, fuel cards and accounting systems integrate without custom work?
- How does pricing change with trucks, users, loads or additional modules?
- What implementation, data migration, training and contract terms sit outside the subscription price?
